9Ashley Park has been in uninterrupted private ownership for more than 800 years, since at least the 12th century AD. The present owner of the common parts of the residential estate including the roads and verges is A.P.R.A. Ltd, a company owned and managed by the residents of the estate. The last individual private owners of the estate were the Sassoon family, who lived here from 1863 until their sale of the land in 1923.
Ashley Park comprises Silverdale Avenue, Ireton Avenue, Park Close, Linden Grove, Ashley Park Crescent and Ashley Park Avenue between Ashley Road and the Gate adjacent to the entrance of the Ashley Park Recreation Ground. Ashley Park and its roads remain a wholly private entity for the use of residents only with its upkeep and maintenance paid entirely by its residents. There are no public rights of way across the estate and the roads and verges are not dedicated to the public.
There are 199 homes in approximately 200 acres of land. Residents choose to live in Ashley Park because of its peace and tranquility and the open nature of design.
A.P.R.A Ltd. and its agents use CCTV to monitor access and the use of Ashley Park. Images are monitored and recorded for the purposes of crime prevention, controlling access and traffic management. See yellow notices for more information.
For safety reasons the maximum speed limit is 20 MPH and must be strictly adhered to.
From time to time the roads are used by non-residents and any access by both residents and non-residents is subject to these byelaws. For the avoidance of doubt you will be deemed to have accepted these byelaws once you have moved beyond a line parallel to this notice or are recorded on our CCTV system.
Vehicles of bona fide visitors may enter Ashley Park to visit residents. We reserve the right to confirm the invitation. Use of the roads by other vehicles for parking or 'short-cutting' is strictly forbidden. APRA will use the full force of the law to enforce these rights and will seek to recover all associated costs. Parking is not permitted on the roads within Ashley Park without express permission. Contractors will have been given permission as part of the planning process for a limited number of vehicles. Parking enforcement is in operation (see separate notices for applicable charges). By entering Ashley Park you agree to pay any such charge.
It should be noted that there are no pedestrian pathways within Ashley Park, nor may pedestrians walk on the grass verges. The roadway itself is thus in common use by both vehicles and pedestrians, with hazard accordingly. Road users are responsible for their own safety. At night the use of high visibility clothing is recommended as an added precaution.
Littering and damage to property are offences, and will be reacted to accordingly. Door to door sales are not permitted within Ashley Park nor is the distribution of advertising materials. Dogs must be kept on a lead and dog waste must be removed. Skateboarding is not permitted.
A.P.R.A. Ltd. maintains the right to close any gate or access to Ashley Park at any time. At times when the gates are closed, access will be available to residents and authorised persons only. Whilst we endeavour to give advance notice of closures we reserve the right to close the gates at short notice.
